Quick stop: Beaufort


Sunday, June 3 – We didn’t have a lot of time to stop and explore Beaufort (pronounced “BYEW-furt”), which is one of the recommended stops in the Lowcountry.  But, we did need to grab some lunch, so we drove into town to check it out.  Unfortunately, nothing much was open on Sunday afternoon, but we found a little ice cream and sandwich shop right by the water called Kooky Mookie’s, so we grabbed something there and ate lunch on the waterfront. 

We then made a quick drive through the old residential area, which has a lot of antebellum houses in a lush landscape.  We saw some of the most dramatic Spanish Moss on the Live Oaks here, and we stopped to snap a few pictures of the hydrangeas in someone’s yard, because they were so huge.  I knew my mom would like to see these…
