Friday, June 8 - Ok, ok... So this is my last Crossfit visit on the road trip.  This time I worked out at Crossfit NOLA 504 with Coach Jeff (next to me in red bandana).  Another great group!  Thanks, guys!

And they were all game for sweaty post-workout photo...  Man, was it humid!!

Random Wednesday photos

Wednesday, June 6 - Just a bunch of uncategorized observations as we drove along the Gulf Coast.

You may remember an earlier post from last week, Truck Stop Entertainment, featuring the weird scale/lottery/"personal message" machine in the rest rooms at the Love's truck stop.  It seems as though it's a regular feature.  This time we both paid 25 cents for our fortunes.  Sandy's was: "Honest is your best virtue."  Mine is below.

Strangest Chiropractor sign...  In Panama City.

Seaside, Florida.  Nothing strange or out of place here.  Everything is picture perfect.

Double red flags at the beach in Destin, Florida.  Don't go in the water!

Despite the double red flags, Sandy proceeds into the Gulf.  With purse, of course.  Just in case of emergency.

Looks like the Economy Hotel doesn't have enough cash to maintain their sign.  However, it looks like the HBO sales rep came by and ironed on fresh letters.

Cool moment:  We pulled up at the stop light in front of the Air Force Base right at 5pm as there was a bugle call and the playing of the Star Spangled Banner.

Driving through the streets of Pensacola, we randomly drive by a Crossfit class on the sidewalk.  Coincidence?  Perhaps not.  We honked and waved.

Strange trees along the coast.

Crossfit in Tallahassee

Wednesday, June 6 - Ok, despite what people are saying, I do not have a Crossfit addiction.  This is only the 4th time I've gone in almost two weeks.  I repeat, I do not admit that I have a problem...  Plus, it's added a fun new twist to the road trip.  So far, each of the four times have been in a different state: Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.

Had another great workout, this time with Coach Sean at Crossfit Black Box in Tallahassee.  It was a partner workout, and my partner Jorge was also in from out of town.  Coincidentally, Sean told me that he actually gets contacted regularly by people thinking that they are contacting my home gym, Crossfit NYC - The Black Box.

 Thanks, Sean!

Crossfit Hilton Head

Monday, June 4 – My Crossfit tour of the South continues.  This morning I did a great workout at Crossfit Hilton Head with owner/coach Craig.  Today's workout, or WOD (Workout Of the Day) as Crossfitters call it, was 5 rounds of a 200m run and as many pull-ups as you can do at once.

I know it may sound crazy that I keep going to Crossfit on vacation, but the workouts are short - you're in and out in an hour - and the people are really great.  It's fun to break out of "tourist mode" and get a good workout in at the same time.  Thanks for a great workout, Craig!

Crossfit Hyperformance in Savannah

Friday, June 1 – My second Crossfit stop on the road trip.  Went to a 7:30am workout at Crossfit Hyperformance, and it was a killer…  (For those of you who are not Crossfitters, this may sound like a foreign language…) Clean & jerk 3-3-3-1-1-1, and then a partner workout, the “Ball Breaker:” 400m run with a medicine ball, then THREE ROUNDS of 30 tosses of the medball over the pull-up bar, 30 partner situps with the medball, 30 walking lunges with the medball overhead.   Then finish up with another 400m run.  Let's just say, the Southern humidity adds another fun element to the workout!  Thanks to Coach Drew who was my partner, Jennifer and everyone else in the class, including the dogs.  An additional shoutout to Tracee who was also visiting from Atlanta from Crossfit East Decatur.  Awesome workout!

Early morning Crossfit

Wednesday, May 30 - So, my new thing (this is Ken speaking) is Crossfit.  I knew I wouldn't be able to go two weeks on the road without a workout.  When I told my Crossfit coach in NYC, Sully, about our road trip, he told me that I had to go to some Crossfit gyms along the way, and send pictures back to post in the Crossfit NYC website.  So, I went to a 6:30am workout at Crossfit Montgomery - The Boneyard.  (Yes, I know this is vacation, and that's a pretty early start time for vacation, but it was the only time I could do it!)  Great workout with Coach Greg.  Thanks!
